Creapure vs NSF Certified for Sport: two different promises about creatine
Last reviewed 2026-09-24. Every certification and package size below was read from its source on that date, and each links it. No price is shown.
Of 6 NSF-listed creatine tubs we matched to Amazon listings, one also states Creapure: Sports Research's 450 g jar. The two claims answer different questions: Creapure is about the ingredient that went into the tub, NSF Certified for Sport is about the tub. People search “Creapure NSF certified” as if they were the same kind of claim; they are not.
Creapure: a branded ingredient
Creapure is a trademarked creatine monohydrate ingredient made in Germany by Alzchem Trostberg. Brands that license it can print the Creapure seal, which carries a six-digit code; the Creapure site lets you enter that code to confirm the licensed partner. The seal tells you where the creatine came from. It is not a certificate on the finished product in your hand.
“Creapure vs creatine monohydrate” is a common search, and the answer is short: Creapure is creatine monohydrate, sold under a brand.
NSF Certified for Sport: a certificate on the finished product
NSF lists specific products in specific package sizes. By its own description it verifies that they “do not contain unsafe levels of contaminants, prohibited substances or masking agents, and that what is on the label matches what is in the product”. That is a claim about the finished product, whatever ingredient supplier it used.
Not interchangeable, and not mutually exclusive
A product can have either, both or neither. Of the 6 tubs NSF lists that we matched to Amazon listings, only one states Creapure:

- Thorne Creatine (micronized creatine monohydrate), unflavored, 90 servings: no Creapure claim on its listing or our source pageAmazon →
“Stated by the manufacturer” means the claim is on the manufacturer's own product page; we could not check a seal code, which is printed on the physical tub. A product with no Creapure claim is not worse for it: the certificate above applies either way.
All six, with their NSF listings, are on the main creatine page.
This page restates published certification records with attribution. It makes no health, benefit or treatment claim, gives no dosing advice, and says nothing about whether any product is safe or right for you. A certification record describes tested lots, not a permanent grade.
Links to Amazon on this page are affiliate links: as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you. Which products appear, and their order, was settled by the certifier's records before any link was attached. Price plays no part.
