Nordic Naturals Algae Omega vs Sports Research Vegan Omega-3
Last reviewed 2026-09-25. Every label figure and certification record below was read from its source on that date, and each links it. No price is shown.
Per their makers' labels, two capsules of Nordic Naturals Algae Omega carry 195 mg of EPA and 390 mg of DHA; two of Sports Research Vegan Omega-3 carry 280 mg of EPA and 700 mg of DHA. Nordic's capsule contains carrageenan; Sports Research's tapioca capsule does not. Neither is on NSF Certified for Sport's list.
Where the headline numbers mislead
- Nordic Naturals' 715 mg is total omega-3s on its label. The Amazon title says “715mg Vegan EPA+DHA”; Nordic's label gives 715 mg as total omega-3s, of which EPA plus DHA is 585 mg. The label figure is used.
- Sports Research's 1,400 mg is algae oil; its 1,020 mg is total omega-3s. EPA plus DHA is 980 mg.
- The ratio differs. Nordic gives twice as much DHA as EPA; Sports Research gives two and a half times as much. Which ratio suits someone is not something a label comparison can settle.
